While I'm Thinking About It

While I'm Thinking About It

Test III: The Search for Spock. I Mean, Spam

It was with mild trepidation that I logged into my super-secret email account. Having not accessed Wowio.com's small multitude of "free-as-in-beer" offerings for a day, I was curious as to what I might find inside. A boilerplate request for initial feedback on the service? Recommendations for other titles I might enjoy? Spam, proving once and for all that they are, in fact, an email-harvesting company above all else, and not to be trusted despite what their privacy policy says?

Well, as it turns out, there was nothing to worry about. Just the three emails from yesterday, which I had left in the inbox for references purposes (seeing how many ways the folks at Wowio identify themselves, as it were). While I intend to pay attention for quite some time, I think this can be the last newspost about it for awhile. Right now, they get a qualified recommendation: if they've got something you'd like, and you've got a fast connection to download multiple-megabyte files, and you don't mind giving up a bit of personal information, then by all means, go right ahead and sign up. But use a fresh email address, just in case.
